CFP: Graduate student workshop on affect and emotion

Are you a graduate student in the New York City area whose research engages affective methodologies? Do you want to workshop your research with an interdisciplinary group of scholars who consider affect and emotion across media, historical periods, and disciplines?

The Columbia University Seminar on Affect Studies solicits 20-minute conference-style presentations by graduate students for an upcoming workshop of work-in-progress. We are looking to host a wide array of perspectives, approaches, and topics, where affect is a subject of investigation or a methodological consideration, including but not limited to the following:

History of emotions
Affect theory
Philosophy of emotion
Affect and literature, drama, cinema
Politics and emotion
Affect and visual arts

Date: Friday, February 15, 2019, midday

Apply by: January 20, 2019 with a 300-word abstract of the proposed presentation to the seminar co-chairs (listed below)
