This panel discussion with consider how medievalism (academic and popular) is currently positioned in relation to American racial/racist discourses. The speakers will consider the ways in which the medieval is coopted into racializing discourses, and they will present their views of how work in medieval studies might best intervene, in productive and progressive ways, in this larger conversation.
