The Interactive Technology & Pedagogy doctoral certificate program is seeking a doctoral student to receive a one-year renewable Grad “A” fellowship (or its equivalent). Supported by the fellowship, the student will serve as the Managing Editor of the ITP program’s open, online, peer-reviewed Journal of Interactive Technology & Pedagogy (https://jitp.commons.gc.cuny.edu). The Managing Editor oversees the workflow of long-form and short-form pieces submitted to JITP, leads meetings of the Editorial Collective, works closely with Issue and Short Section Editors, and works with the Journal’s Web Development and Staging teams to prepare each online issue of the journal.
Grad “A” fellowships offer a stipend starting at approximately $21,000 per year, tuition remission for students in their first 10 semesters of graduate work, and NYSHIP health benefits. Grad “A” fellows are expected to work a total of 450 hours over two semesters (15 hours a week for 15 weeks each semester). This fellowship will be renewable pending funding availability.
Strong open source and computer tech skills are required, including familiarity with WordPress and other multimedia software. Prior experience with academic/public journal editing is helpful, though not required. Priority for consideration for the fellowship will be given to students who are enrolled in or have completed the ITP program.
All GC doctoral students are encouraged to apply by sending a letter of interest and a resume via email to the ITP coordinator, Steve Brier, at sbrier@gc.cuny.edu. The application process will remain open until February 15th. We expect to award the fellowship before the end of March. The fellowship would begin formally in late August, but potential fellows should be available starting April 1st to officially join the Editorial Collective (https://jitp.commons.gc.cuny.edu/about-the-journal/#masthead) talk with the current M.E., and observe the final stages of production of JITP’s Issue 11.
Any questions about the position may be directed to the current Managing Editor, Laura W. Kane, at admin@jitpedagogy.org
