Call for Applications – GC Digital Fellowship in Design and Web Development

https://gcdi.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2017/11/14/join-our-team-call-for-applications-gc-digital-fellow/

Based in the GC Digital Scholarship Lab, the GC Digital Fellows Program operates as an in-house think-and-do tank for digital projects, connecting Fellows to digital initiatives throughout The Graduate Center. The GC Digital Fellows utilize a team-based approach as they explore creative solutions for collaboratively developing and implementing projects and activities to support GCDI’s core missions.

GC Digital Initiatives seeks to add a new fellow for Spring 2018 who is interested in design and website development. Candidates should have a digital portfolio of design projects to share and interest in working on website development. Ideally, candidates might have also have experience with HTML, CSS, and/or WordPress and the CUNY Academic Commons (commons.gc.cuny.edu). Candidates should have proven experience working in highly collaborative settings, be strong communicators, and demonstrate interest in teaching workshops and creating tutorials to help other students and faculty learn about design. In addition to carrying out special projects each year, the GC Digital Fellows run a full program of regularly-scheduled activities that support the research and teaching of the GC community, including consulting with faculty members on digital scholarly projects, developing and leading workshops on popular digital research tools and methods, designing websites for special initiatives, hosting special events to foster community around digital projects at the GC, supporting the Digital Humanities Praxis Seminar, and encouraging the exploration of digital scholarship, methods, and tools through drop-in office hoursPython Users’ Group meetings, Digital Project Working Groups, and Monday Maker Hours.

From administrative support to curriculum design and instruction, the GC Digital Fellows play a critical role in the mission of the GC Digital Initiatives. You can meet the GC Digital Fellows here and check out their reflections on their work at their blog, Tagging the Tower.

GC Digital Fellows are funded by graduate assistant appointments that carry eligibility to purchase low-cost NYSHIP health insurance, a stipend, and in-state tuition remission for Fellows who are within their first 10 registered semesters of study. Fellows are required to work a total of 450 non-teaching hours during the academic year (two 15-week semesters). Determinations of re-appointments are made on an annual basis depending on individual eligibility and GC needs.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning immediately. For best consideration, please apply before December 4.
